Landscapes will be the focus, but the principles will apply to all genres of art. Topics covered: Design, value structure, color mixing, and atmospheric perspective. Students can work from their references or those supplied by the instructor, demonstrations, and plenty of one-on-one assistance throughout the course. This workshop is perfect for those interested in becoming better painters.

Materials:
- iPad, Tablet, or printed landscape reference photos.
- Recommended Artist Quality Heavy Body Acrylic Paints: Utrecht Artist Acrylic Colors, Liquitex Professional Heavy Body Acrylic Paints, Golden Artist Colors, Chroma Interactive, and Winsor & Newton.
- Colors: Titanium White (Liquitex), Cad Yellow Medium, Yellow Ocher/Oxide, Burnt Sienna (Utrecht makes the best.), Cad Red Light, Alizarin Crimson Hue Perm., Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo BluePalette.
- I often use a 7 ½ x 11 white enamel butcher’s tray as a palette for easy paint storage and clean-up. Disposable Palette Pads work fine too. If you find acrylic dries too fast, then I suggest a Masterson Stay-Wet Palette System: w/sponge and palette paper insert. Choose one of the following options:
- 1. Painters Pal with the yellow lid, or
- 2. The12x16 with the red or blue lid.
- Spray Bottle: Chroma Atelier Water Sprayer or similar.

- Palette knife: Diamond-shaped knife, 1.5 - 2 inchlength.
- Brush washer: Large empty yogurt or cottage cheese container.
- Color Wheel: Pocket Color Wheel A quick reference guide for those new to color mixing.
- Paper Towels or Rags.
Objectives:
- Students will work from their reference material in acrylic paints while learning about the fundamental principles of picture-making.
- Weekly demonstrations and individual attention provided beginner to intermediate skill levels.
