Abstract Expressionism paintings are large, eye-catching paintings. You do not need to know how to draw to produce successful Abstract Expressionism paintings. You do not need to be an experienced painter to produce wonderful Abstract Expressionist paintings. Likewise, if you are an experienced painter, Abstract Expressionistic paintings is different from realistic painting. You will have a handout to take notes if you wish.

After going over some painting terms and concepts, I will talk a little about the history of Abstract Expressionism. We will cover three painters. I will discuss each painter and their paintings, show examples of their paintings and demonstrate techniques. Plan to produce five to eight paintings.

I will bring the paints, some painting tools, disposal palettes, mixing tools, mixing containers, table coverings for the paints and my demonstration area. [Note: there is a separate fee for the paints]

Wear clothes and shoes that you do not mind if paint gets on them. Paint should not get on your clothes and shoes, but it may happen.

All painting will be done at your table. Some of the paintings you will need to stand. Others you can sit or stand.
