Light and Shadow Still Life Worksho

This is the first of two workshops and is for both new and experienced artists. You may use any painting or drawing medium you wish: oils, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pastel, colored pencil, graphite, conte, charcoal.

We will produce still-life artworks of fruit and bowels. You may use the supplied images or bring copyright free image or choose to work from actual objects. The teacher will bring in fruit and bowls to use if you wish to use them.

If you have not drawn or painted a particular object before, the teacher can show you how to draw or paint that object. The teacher will also give you any other help you need drawing or painting. The teacher will not draw or paint on your artwork. If you wish, positive critiques will be given about your work.

  1. You will learn how to paint and/or draw light and shadows. You will learn the terms and parts of light and shadows. There are a number of different ways of painting light and shadow. With a step-by-step approach, you will be able to complete two or more artworks depending upon how fast you work.
