Steps:
1. Prep your workspace to begin your art work.
2. Choose your paints and brushes. The type of paint you use can create an opaque effect. Layer paint to create bold strokes of color and create a 3 dimensional effect. **Water based paints once opened will start to dry in 20 minutes and depending on how many layers of paint are applied the painting can take up to 2-3 days to fully dry.
3. Choose your Frame & glass. ~Cost of each floating frame is $15.00 to be paid to the Instructor.
4. Open the back of the frame; gently lift out the glass panel.
5. Clean the glass -both sides- to remove dust, fingerprints and any residue.
6. Place the reference image under the glass. You may tape it to the table top to prevent shifting while you work.
7. Tape the glass panel to the table top.
8. Outline the image onto the glass with paint pens **optional.
9. Start with shadows, work your way up to highlights with lighter colors. Apply layers of paint to the images while the paint is wet to intensify the colors. Use controlled brush stroked with small paint brush to keep your paint within the lines of the image.
10. Look for spots where the light comes through the glass to touch up and correct color with paint.
11. Use a craft knife or toothpick to clean up lines and scratch off excess paint if you have a drip or paint outside the image lines.
12. Frame your painting once it is dry. Insert your new painted piece of glass back into the floating frame.
13. BE CREATIVE!! Use textured or design papers to set off your image against a background. optional
14. BRAVO!!! Your glass art work is ready to hang or display on a table top. Floating Frames include mounting hardware.
